Celebrating 30 years.
I am proud to be celebrating thirty years of successful business of Avnir Group.
I have always been passionate about construction and had an entrepreneurial spirit. I began with labouring jobs as I worked my way through my education, meeting some amazing and inspirational people, many of whom I am still mates with today,
My professional career commenced with Concrete Constructions on the new Parliament House while studying my Building Degree at Canberra University and went on to a role as Planning Engineer on the iconic Gateway building at Circular Quay. On Gateway, I led the introduction of computer based critical path activity analysis which revolutionised the construction of concrete super structures delivering four-day floor cycles for the first time in Australia. I then spent four years with Paynter Dixon before going out on my own and founding Avnir in 1992.
On this journey I learnt the importance of not accepting the status quo, being research based, speaking up when I had an opinion and critically to listen to my clients.
With starting Avnir, I wanted to succeed and fail on my own merits. I wanted to be my own boss. I began in 1992 with $2,000 in the bank, going on to grow strongly to a turnover of $20M+ in 2002 and a team of 60. We built a sound foundation for quality and innovation, predominantly in the tender market during the initial years then shifting to negotiated jobs as we leveraged our reputation and the solid networks we had established.
I now look back proudly on what has been achieved over the past 30 years. Just surviving the GFC and the many changes in regulations has been an achievement in itself.
Avnir today is truly a national company, holding Building Licences in all states and territories. We enjoy working closely with our many clients on complex projects, always focused on; exceeding quality expectations and program deadlines. The ability to deliver projects without budget variations has been a very positive thing for us.
Across the coming 30 years I see Avnir continuing our successful track record and building strong personal client relationships as we broaden our activities into new sectors.
So, as we celebrate our 30 years I want to thank our dedicated Avnir Team, our loyal clients and the many suppliers and consultant firms we have partnered with over the journey.
I would love to hear from past colleagues and clients and look forward to catching up at one of the events we have planned to celebrate our 30 years. Also, if there is something I can help you with, please reach out to me directly on my contacts below.
All the best,
